Safety Officer
Position Overview
As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety across our construction projects in Oklahoma. Your primary role will be to implement, oversee, and enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and property damage. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, lab teams, and field teams to maintain compliance with OSHA and other local regulations while fostering a proactive safety environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and enforce safety regulations on construction sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws and standards, including OSHA.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of job sites, equipment, and personnel practices to identify potential hazards.
• Develop and deliver safety training sessions to all field and lab personnel, and visitors.
• Investigate accidents or near-misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain and update safety documentation, including safety plans, procedures, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with project management teams to assess safety needs and provide guidance on mitigating risks.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear by workers.
• Advise and support project teams in maintaining safe practices while meeting project deadlines and objectives.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in construction site safety.
• Promote a culture of continuous safety improvement across all levels of the organization.
• Maintain safety compliance with our clients on various platforms such as ISNET World, Compass, Avetta, and others.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required; OSHA 500 or 510 certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management within the construction or engineering industry.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, construction practices, and environmental standards.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety plans.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of workers.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
